Welcome to Web Watch edition number one! We’ll be running a regular short article where we scour the goliath that is the Internet for interesting, quirky and useful links for your entertainment and enlightenment.

Student Website

Have you ever been an intern? Want to share your experience, good or bad, with your fellow peers? Interns Anonymous is a website that acts as a forum for interns to share their experiences and discuss the ethics of unpaid employment. The site was set up by two graduates working as unpaid interns and the owners are keen for your contributions. It’s a very nice resource and even if you’re nervous about submitting a story (all articles are posted anonymously) then it’s worth browsing through the many stories.

Student Blog

For all you budding photographers check out the Everyday Click blog, written by Student Sandra Abegglen of Goldsmiths University. The site seeks to raise questions around the value or the meaning of an image. According to the blog “In recent years, photography has had a tremendous boost through the development of smaller and cheaper means, and techniques are no longer restricted to only the professional arena. Cameras have become a gadget for private users“

Design

Are you into Web Design or Web development? The Smashing Magazine website is the ultimate resource. Founded in September 2006, Smashing Magazine provides useful and innovative information to the design and development community. Their aim is to inform readers about the latest trends and techniques in Web development.

Lifestyle

Tired of following the norm in the personality development tips space, telling you how to do this or how to do that… then check out PluginID. PluginID set up by Glen Allsop is an awesome blog and in their own words the website is about “…a journey of success, failures, struggles and everything else that comes up on the path of being who you want to be and living the life you want to life”. We highly recommend a peak in between lectures!

Weird

Have you ever wanted to see Cameron fight Clegg? Or perhaps Brown vs Cameron? Then you need to play Downing Street Fighter. We first got wind of this on Twitter. It’s politics meets Street Fighter! Make sure you check out the Gillian Duffy Bonus Round – just to remind you, Gillian is the unfortunate lifelong labour supporter that Gordon Brown labelled a “bigot”.
